Join me for a unique class discovering how Alexander Technique can boost your performance and recapture your joy as an instrumentalist, singer, or music teacher. We will explore tools for creating more ease and longevity in playing and singing. By studying in a group setting, we create an actual performance space to practice the tools you learn in front of others. Learning within this stimulus makes it more likely to access body awareness when in performance settings in the future.
The class will include:
Learning how to embody Alexander Technique principles
Incorporating key body awareness tools for playing and singing with ease
Learning how to access tools to continue playing/singing with ease even, when experiencing performance anxiety
Exploring through imaginative group activities and touch communication from the instructor
Opportunities to work in masterclass format are included

This class will prepare you for a musical theatre audition in a small group setting. This small group setting sets the conditions so that you receive individual attention and instruction and have a chance to sing in front of others so audition day feels less scary.
Details: There will be 7 group classes and a private session with a collaborative pianist. The final group class will be a mock audition.
You will learn:
A song for an audition
Healthy and sustainable practice habits
Work with a collaborative pianist and voice teacher to prepare the audition piece
Healthy singing technique
How to create a character for your song and act authentically in an audition
Tools for performance anxiety
Audition etiquette
